The culmination of a lifetime’s work, this is a collection of poetry, prose and visual art that keeps body, mind and spirit together, a rich summation of ideas, thoughts and philosophy. Their common theme is a respect for life and an affinity with what endures throughout the years, bringing an empathetic solace and strength in time of need.
This book finally became possible after so many years, thanks to the wonderful artistry of Ann Oxley, who illustrated this collection, helping to realise the vision, and lovingly reflecting both the work and sketched imaginings of Annetta Victoria Wood.
Annetta Victoria Wood (ne Butterfield), born in the early 1940s in the county of West Yorkshire, was educated in Yorkshire, Sussex and Switzerland. Her great affinity and fascination with the written word began with the onset of adolescence. In her own words:
“It became almost a dietary need, compiling albums – they became my mantra, my bible and at all times returned faithfully the meaning of life, giving comfort through the dark times and thanksgiving through the good.”
